Intimacy with God: He is Always Closer Than You Think
Philippians 4:6-8 TPT
Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ. So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always.
When we talk about Intimacy with God many people keep wishing they were closer to God and they sing songs like “Lord I wanna be close to you…” They don't understand how close they are. You are one with God. You are not far from Him.
Do you know I could be standing right next to you but you will not see me because you are trying to focus on a tiny ant that just stung you? Or a mosquito. God lives in you. You are the temple of the Holy Ghost. Now get conscious. If you knew God is in you, would you be seeking answers all around or would you be spending time talking to Him?
Let your first definition of prayer be fellowship, that moment with the King where it's just you and Him. I love to spend time with my husband. It's not a burden. We can just keep talking and talking. Why is it now burdensome to be with the one person who understands you even more than your spouse- God Himself? Because He is not yet real to you. You may think He's abstract or Just a figment of your imagination but no! He is more real than the clothes you feel on your back.
The snakes that bit the Israelites felt like they were so real, even more real than the brazen serpent they were asked to look at and live. But let me tell you something. Those snakes that bit them were fleeting, passing and dying too because I bet some were killed, but the lifted serpent was constant. It remained there. Every time they looked; it was there. Jesus the same yesterday, today and forever. He is the real deal. Your issue is too small. Objects are magnified by focus. What you focus on will be magnified. Focus on Jesus, not because you can make Him any bigger than He is, but to you, He will become bigger than any distractions. One thing that tries to affect our consciousness and distract us is fear. Fear is cast away by faith in the love of God.
Your only duty is to labour in the word until all you do is believe the word. Believe in God's love. If you know how much God loves you, you will constantly remain in the presence of love. God loves you. Get conscious of His indwelling presence. You will not only set apart time in the early hours; you will also have love breaks during your day time. Just like when you stop to have a tea break or lunch break. You'll just stop to have a love break. Have you had a love break today? Just bask in God's love today. Thank Him for His love and just love on the Father.
